Caring for your Pearls
Pearls are durable and can retain their beautiful lustre for generations—but because they’re an organic gem, they need a little extra love and care.
To keep your pearls looking their best:
Put pearls on last: Apply makeup, hair products, sunscreen, and moisturiser before wearing your pearls to avoid contact with chemicals that can dull their lustre.
Avoid perfume: Don’t spray perfume directly where your pearls will sit.
Keep them dry: Remove pearls before swimming, showering, or playing sport—sweat and water (especially chlorinated) can damage them.
Store them safely: Keep pearls away from other jewellery to avoid scratches. Use a soft pouch or lined box, and avoid coloured boxes that may transfer dye over time.
Clean gently: Wipe your pearls with a soft, damp cloth after wearing. Avoid ultrasonic or steam cleaners—pearls prefer chemical-free care.
Wear them often: Your skin’s natural oils help keep pearls moisturised and lustrous.
Re-thread regularly: If you wear your strand often, have it re-threaded every 1–2 years to prevent breakage.
With a little care, your pearls will remain radiant and timeless for years to come.
